I am a College of Wooster graduate with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Biology and a minor in Classical Studies. I was a PhD candidate in the Department of Biology at New Mexico State University before family considerations forced me to leave the program. I have tutored students from 4th grade through the university level in basic science, biology, biochemistry, genetics, organic chemistry, introductory chemistry, physics, mathematics (arithmetic, geometry, algebra and trigonometry), history (Greek & Roman civilizations through 20th century history), Latin, Greek, and English (proper writing as well as grammar). I have years of experience as a lecturer at the university level and take exceptional pride in seeing my students succeed in their academic pursuits. My experience as an educator has taught me numerous techniques to improve retention of learned material, maximize test scores, and most importantly, to make learning fun. I have found that every student is capable of succeeding in the classroom, regardless of past performance, and I am dedicated to helping those who wish to do their best at school and beyond. Teachers today are often overworked and too busy to attend to a single student's individual needs as a student due to age, previous experience, and individual disposition. I have found success in improving a student's understanding, and therefore the final class grade, in numerous cases by tending to the unique character of the student and finding the "right way" to teach them. My own education has taken me all over the world and has allowed me to do things I never imagined doing; I fully understand the importance of maximizing educational opportunities for young children just getting started as well as young adults and adults looking to succeed in or enter competitive higher educational institutions (colleges and graduate programs). In summary, I have a high degree of enthusiasm for learning and the educational background and personality to help any type of student succeed in their academic pursuits.
