I have worked as a tutor for the past three years. I make sure to develop good rapport with the student and the parents before any tutoring begins. I like to customize and cater the student's instruction to his or her learning style(s), interests, etc. (Kids are more likely to be motivated by a word problem that incorporates their name and/or their favorite toy, sport, etc.). I have been in the education field for 4+ years and I am currently working as a special education (preschool) teacher in Brooklyn, New York. I am very sensitive to any special needs that your child may have. I am open and willing to collaborate and communicate with the students' parents (and classroom teacher, if permitted by school's policy) to learn more about the child's strengths and areas that need improvement. I like to establish and maintain open lines of communication so that I can provide students with quality instruction and appropriate differentiation strategies (e. g. modified work, modified expectations for a student-created product, a particular type of working environment, etc.).

All in all, through my tutoring sessions, I provide students with teaching/learning strategies that help to foster their personal study skills and independence. I hope to help your student to become empowered and independent enough that he/she will no longer need my services. After all, teaching is seemingly the only profession in which, if the job is done correctly, the teacher puts himself/herself out of a job! :)
