I have played the violin from the age of seven, studying with violinists including Katharine C. Dmitry O. and Camilla F. I learned using the Suzuki method as well as traditional Western music notation and methods of Sevcik, Heifitz and Lereaux. I participated in both symphonic orchestra and chamber music ensembles for several years in the Southern California area, holding the position of concert mistress in my high school orchestra as well as first violin in chamber ensembles. For the past two years I have taught amateur violin students on an individual basis in homes. Lessons are generally for one hour duration (less if the student is very young). My past students have ranged in age from 6 to 16. My teaching style involves music theory, technique, musicality and expression as well as some basic music history. I hope that all my students will gain a greater understanding of music as well as familiarity with their instrument, whether it becomes a favorite pastime or a serious pursuit.
