My most recent tutoring experience involves my work as a writing center consultant at Columbus State University from September of 2011 to January of 2012. In order to work here, I took an extensive college class, which taught me not just more of the fundamentals of English, but how to conduct a tutoring session effectively by catering to the needs of the individual student. While enrolled in the class and on the job, I gained experience in the following things:


Developing a working thesis
Paper Formatting (MLA, APA, Chicago, Turabian, and much more)
Understanding writing assignments
Combating writing anxiety
Getting started on papers by using methods of brainstorming
Developing a unique writing voice
Improving paper structure and organization
Revision help
Understanding how to interpret literature
Grammar and mechanics
Tailoring writing styles for specific purposes (i. e. personal statements as opposed to writing about literature and creative writing)


I also attended Maxwell High School, a part-time vocational school in which I worked as an Early Childhood Education Student Teacher from August 2008 to May 2009. In that, I gained experience working with preschool children, writing lesson plans, and exploring several methods of teaching. This experience allows me to work with students of all ages, from preschool to college level writing.
