Experience with Children:
I am a certified elementary school teacher with five years teaching experience. I have taught both second grade and fourth grade. In addition, I have also worked as Aquatic Program Directors for both Girl Scouts and Boys and Girls Club and with America Reads as a First Grade Reading Instructor. I have worked with younger children as a preschool swim instructor. For the past six months, I have taught a preschool aged Sunday School class at our church. I also have a 2 1/2-year-old son.
Success with Children:
Academically my classes have always performed very well. After beginning employment at North Star Academy, I was able to raise the fourth grade science scores on state standardized tests from the 76 percentile to the 92 percentile. At American Academy, my students second grade language scores grew 3 times the national average. Although this same group of second graders began the year with the lowest average score of the four classes at the school, they finished the year as the highest scoring class. Although standardized scores are impersonal, what they do demonstrate is that my contributions of genuine care and concern, stimulating activities, and effective home school communication were the inspiration and encouragement these kids to reach their full potential.
