My name is Antonio and I am an engineer with a strong interest in teaching. My specialization is in Electro-Optics and Photonics. In my professional work, I use expert/functional judgment and analysis to look at technical problems from many angles and determine appropriate solutions for clients/customers.

I have a B.S. in Applied Physics & Applied Math and an M.S. in Applied Physics from Appalachian State University in Boone, North Carolina. If you like skiing, then Boone is the place to be. I have recently received my PhD in Electro-Optics (EO) from the University of Dayton while simultaneously gaining invaluable work experience at the Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL) in Dayton, Ohio and Battelle Memorial Institute (Defense Contractor) in Columbus, Ohio.

Most of my teaching experience includes teaching freshman physics labs for three years as a graduate teaching assistant at the University of Dayton. I also taught high school students physics principles during a Summer Ventures program while in graduate school at Appalachian State University (ASU). During my first year in graduate school at ASU, I was employed by the university tutoring services to tutor freshman physics for two semesters. Over the last 20 years I have often tutored youth and adult students in math or science subjects in one-on-one or group settings. I have often worked with youth through various programs in my church. I am very patient with people and enjoy the challenge of explaining subject matter in detail and with simplicity.

Teaching allows me to solidify my knowledge of the fundamental principles and helps me to quickly learn new concepts. I have a strong desire to help others become future scientists and engineers. To solve technical problems, I understand it takes more than academics but also character development, such as perseverance and persistence. As a former student-athlete at the collegiate level (football scholarship), I have the drive and discipline to coach youth and adults to be their best and achieve their goals. My hope is that my students will develop a talent or curiosity to become a physicists or engineer.
