Through all of my schooling, I have been an "A" student, and I have enjoyed learning. I have excelled in English (reading and grammar), science (mostly biology) and some math (algebra, geometry). At age 16, I taught English vocabulary for a couple of weeks in Malawi, Africa; that was my first real tutoring experience. As a senior in high school, I privately tutored a freshman in algebra and history. While receiving my undergraduate education in psychology and criminal justice, I was trained and certified to tutor other college students. My primary areas of tutoring were English, English as a Second Language, biology, and psychology. My students varied extremely, from theology and religion majors, to psychology majors, to accounting majors, from the ages of 19 to 55, at very different learning skill levels and preferences, and even from various countries of origin, including America, China, Ghana, and Hungary. The experiences I had tutoring such a diverse student population were extremely helpful to me as a tutor. Nobody in an academic environment is too old or young, too experienced or inexperienced to benefit from the assistance of a tutor. I very much enjoy helping students learn, and I have a very useful collection of tools to help address problems. My goal is to ultimately see my students know how to better learn and study by themselves, and I saw wonderful results with nearly all of my college-age tutoring students. I believe learning is of fundamental importance, and helping someone else grow to love learning drives my passion for tutoring!
