A former classroom teacher with 20 years of private language arts tutoring . Have worked with students from k- high school. I have also worked with students who needed assistance in speech, and children diagnosed dyslexic, and A. D. D./A. D. H. D. Each lesson is catered to the child's learning style. I also focus on the student's thoughts/moods as a means of understanding the child's current state of mind. By understanding a child's mood, I am able to create a deeper level of rapport, and a connection. This also helps make the teaching lesson more effective. I also use music ( I play guitar) and movement in my lessons if that seems like it would be helpful. At times, too, I incorporate a whole body/experiential approach to my teaching so a student can integrate the lesson and internalize the material being taught.
I am extremely dedicated, and invested in the children I teach. I love figuring out how a child's mind processes information so I can be at my best for the student. I love what I do. I possess current classroom and reading specialist credentials. I also have an MSW degree.
I had the pleasure of teaching my own children how to read, and one of my tutorees had received The Most Improved Student Award from Santa Rita School in Los Altos, Ca.
