I have been tutoring and teaching, part-time and full-time since high school. I am a certified elementary school teacher with certification also in grades 4-8. I have developed expertise in elementary literacy and numeracy, helping my below grade level students to grow an average of 1. 5 years in an academic year. I was an English & Sociology double major and am very strong in teaching writing, for grades 3-12. I have tutored students on drafting their college essays and applications, and have a very strong understanding of the higher ed structure and application process (I will be working towards a masters in Education this Fall). I am an avid literature and history fan and always aim to teach my students, first and foremost, a love of learning. I have a passion for upper elementary (3-5) math, and come prepared with many tools and resources to improve students number sense, arithmetic, and problem solving skills.
I would begin by meeting with a family altogether, by assessing a students needs and interests, and building a structured program for success over the course of several weeks.
I love working with kids of all ages, have mentored, tutored and taught children ages 6-18.
