I took care of a Down syndrome little girl for almost two years before I became a nanny. I helped with her learning skills, and kept her busy by teaching her little things like making cookies, and doing basic things around the house. I showed her the things she needed for her hygiene, and brought her to the park often for physical activity. Down syndrome children have a tendency to gain weight. They also will sit for hours if you let them watching certain movies over and over. It was a wonderful experience because at that time, my daughter and another girl were only one year difference in age. Then, the little girl was 10 years old. My daughter was very fond of her and influenced her in little ways like dancing with her, and playing music, and showing her how to play constructively with certain toys or dolls.
