I have worked with special needs children at the JCC camp in Tenafly which has a specialized program. It was my job to work one on one with special care children in mainstream setting. I have also worked with various special needs in my many years at Tenafly Recreation Department programs. I am a recent Ramapo College graduate where I specialized in services to women and children. While at Ramapo, I did an internship with Literacy Corps a program that targets literacy needs among depressed urban special needs kids.

My most special qualification for working with special needs population is that I myself have overcome many challenges of learning disability. My entire elementary and high school education was in Special Ed. I was able to persevere, make adaptations and eventually graduate college. This special qualification helps me understand the needs of special kids especially the frustration, stigma and social rejection often experienced. I understand the patience and perserverence needed in working with kid who need extra time or special instruction in order to get things done.
