In the past, I did an internship working with autistic children and cared one on one for an adolescent girl through Champion Tutoring. While working at Tandem Friends School ( a private Quaker school in Charlottesville) for eight years, I worked with children who were autistic and had Asperger's syndrome. Prior to Tandem, I worked at a therapeutic wilderness program that was residential. The children that attended this school had a host of issues and had been sent there by their parents, the courts or the school system. I consider myself a patient person who wants to nurture the best in children.
