Hi, I'm Naomi and I genuinely enjoy children! I have been caring for and/or voluntarily working with children for as long as I can remember. Growing up, I was "the oldest of the younger children " and often acted as a caretaker to the six children younger than I. At age 9, I began volunteering my "recess " to play inside with Special Education students. At age 12, I babysat an 8 y/o little boy with autism. I also have cared for individual children with cerebral palsy and with blindness.

Recently I moved to the KC metro, leaving my job at a pediatric therapy clinic, which I got after volunteering with their program that used acting and play therapy to mix children with and without disabilities. That job added to my awareness of age appropriate skills and milestones, as well as therapeutic activities. I can play in an educational way with your child! I'm comfortable and happy to work with all ages of children.

I have a Bachelor's in Art and am passionate about theater. I know children's songs and can incorporate singing, dancing, acting, and painting into my time with your child!

Demonstrated Experience with Children:

- ACTS Jr. (Acting Creates Therapeutic Success) - Supervised groups of children ranging ages 6 to 13. Groups were a mix of typical & atypical developing kids to facilitate teamwork and communication.

- Cared for individual children with the following special needs: cerebral palsy, blindness, and autism.

- Knowledge of therapeutic play, prompting, & developmental milestones through observation and experience.

- Acted as a guide/counselor for familial and co-habiting peer communication at the local shelter for battered women & children.

- Supervised and cared for children during my 24 hour shift.

- Developed children's programs to encourage appropriate interpersonal interaction teach about healthy communication, rather than domestic violence.

- Modified and taught the above curriculum locally at student assemblies, teacher in-service, civic groups, and college organizations.

- Chaperone, Choreographer, and Assistant Director for Middle School Thespians.

- Additional events for Children's Miracle Network.
