I am currently a stay-at-home, part-time companion for my elderly but vibrant and independent mother. Until recently, I was also the primary hospice caregiver for my late stepfather. With my support, he was able to realize his last wish, to die at home, surrounded by family and our wonderful pets. Helping him do this, and enabling my mother to live a full life at home, even with her mild cognitive impairment from a stroke, are two of my greatest accomplishments. I have also had considerable career success in career counseling, health care administration, sales, and public relations. But life delivered some unexpected challenges to my family, and I was able to take a detour in my career and help out at home. My care giving endeavors have brought me great fulfillment. As Hilary Clinton said, "it takes a village" to raise thriving children and communities, and I believe it also takes a village, a diverse, multi-generational collaboration, to enable special needs individuals and families to thrive and realize their dreams. I am college-educated, kind, funny, reliable, a gifted listener and storyteller, an animal-lover, good cook, safe driver, fun companion, and I am good with people and animals of all ages.
