I've worked with families for 12 years and have learned so much from each experience. I've many life skills and have been part of a team in a lot of different circumstances. I have spent time with a little boy who has Spina Bifida. He also suffered from Hydrocephalus which is the excessive accumulation of cerebrospinal fluid in the brain. His diagnosis was myelomengocele Spina Bifida which is the most severe of the neural tude defects. Regular use of catheters and help with bowel movements were necessary. Throughout his care, we regularly saw various therapists to help with motor skill and language delays, etc. He did daily exercises at home and wore corrective boots to help his bones turn straight. Eventually, there was equipment to help him be upright and then even get himself mobile. It was a humbling, sweet experience. I learned a lot and the little guy stole my heart with his determination.
