I started working with an autistic young girl when I was only 10 years old, as volunteer work. I was drawn to be helpful and enjoyed helping, teaching her, and learning from her. I began being paid for my work with this young girl when I was 15 years old. I worked with her until I was 18. Watching this young girl grow and succeed was so rewarding. It wasn't always easy, but working with her, and bonding with her was priceless. She is a good friend today and I have a special connection with her. I also have a cousin with down syndrome. I have an understanding and a love for people with special needs. I believe that all people are created by a loving higher power, and that no one is better or less than.
