I began working with children with special needs when I was 18 years old. Mainly, they were children with autism. These children are the reason I have chosen to pursue a career in health care. I performed my job to the best of my ability not because I was receiving a great pay check but because I seen and understood how much these children wanted to be heard and understood, but they do not know how to do that. Being my first real job, working with those children helped me grow immensely. I grew up in a single parent home. I would much better describe it as an empty home and longed for someone to listen to me. Because teachers, and mentors in my life I have been able to become more than I could think of. I hope to have an impact on a child's life that they can become more than they think possible.
