I have been an Exceptional Children's teacher for the past 4 years in a high school in the Charlotte area. The students that I work with primarily have Autism, and are served in a self contained classroom. Over the past year our school has decided to combine the other self contained classes and have the kids transition to 6 different teachers.
My belief has always been that any child can learn a succeed, some just need more supports and time than others do. The greatest joy in my work at school comes when a student retains a concept that we have been working on and they can then transfer that skill to somewhere else in the school setting or home.
