I have recently relocated to St Petersburg from Columbus, Ohio, and as I become established in the area, I would like to continue my work with children who have disabilities. I have a passion and knack for working with individuals who have special needs, both physical and cognitive, along with 10 years of paid and volunteer experience working with this population in a variety of capacities and settings. My goal is to help people who are "differently-abled" achieve his or her personal best. I have extensive experience working with children and adults of all abilities (including those requiring total care), I love being able to make a positive impact in the lives of the individuals I work with and their families. My BA is in Adaptive Physical Education and my MS in Therapeutic Recreation and Aquatic Therapy. I like to keep up my nursing skills, so would prefer working with a child who is medically involved (have one of the following-g-tube, trache, catheter, colostomy, oxygen, med port, central line, etc). I'm not a babysitter, I want to work on your child's goals and actively engage them. I feel community involvement is extremely important along with providing socialization and recreational opportunities.
