I have found that children with special needs, have a unique perspective on life and have a special way of expressing themselves in their environment. I feel that it takes patience, a kind heart, and willingness to learn about the individual and their needs to properly care for them.

Working in after school programs, I have been allowed to interact and care for children with slow learning and developmental delays, autism, ADHD, dyslexia, Aspergers, allergy related illnesses, and even some extremely ill children.

I enjoy the experience of being able to provide for these children a bit of light in their day. I love finding the strengths of the children and harnessing them through creativity like art projects or physical activity.

Caring for those who need special consideration, is one of the most challenging, one of the most important, and one of the most rewarding jobs there is.
