I have had several experiences where I have cared for those with special needs. Twice, I have gone to Jamaica where I volunteered in an orphanage for severally handicapped children. Many of them were in wheelchairs and the children who were mobile mostly had either autism or Down syndrome. I cared for the kids while I was there and stayed right in the orphanage with them. I also had an internship in a preschool inclusion classroom where many students had autism. Lastly, I am studying to be a speech therapist so I can work in a school with children with special needs.
