I'm currently enrolled in the direct-entry nurse practitioner program and am seeking part-time work as a caregiver. I have a bachelor's degree in biology, and worked in education and research after college. After I realized that my true passion was helping people at a more direct level, I began pursuing a career as a nurse. At this point, I have the academic and clinical experience to be considered on par with a Certified Nursing Assistant. For six years, I have worked part-time as an academic tutor - a background valuable for the comfort it's given me with working individually with children to help them balance respect for their limitations with enthusiasm for their potential. My nursing education has confirmed what I've always suspected - that each and every interaction with a person has to the potential to be a healing force, and the way that small acts are carried out really, truly matters.
Other Qualifications, Certifications and Credentials
Note: I am not an officially certified nursing assistant! However, having completed on year of nursing school, which I have, is generally considered to be on par with being a CNA and nursing students are routinely hired as such by hospitals.
