I am a professional childcare provider, teacher, counselor, dedicated granddaughter, loyal friend, and so much more. As a nanny, I am nurturing, patient, energetic, trustworthy, and competent. I have 18 years of experience working with children; six years as an amateur childcare provider, seven years as a professional nanny, and five years as a teacher, librarian and counselor. My love of children began during my pre-teen years as I devoted much of my time to caring for kids. Subsequently, I continued babysitting and graduated to working at day care centers and camps during my adolescence. Finally, as a young adult I devoted myself to becoming a professional childcare provider and teacher.
My 18 years experience working with children has afforded me the opportunity to develop a personal childcare philosophy. In my relationships with children, I strive to provide a nurturing, loving, and supportive environment in which I foster the child's growth and development. I feel that children benefit from consistency and I endeavor to impart a sense of calm and balance in my relationships with children. Within a nurturing and stable environment, I am able to develop loving and meaningful relationships with the children I care for.
My relationships with children are characterized by three key elements. The first focus of my childcare approach is to guarantee the safety of the children. This means that I use constant supervision to ensure the safety of younger children. Similarly, when caring for older children, the children and I discuss and adhere to important aspects of safety. Secondly, when working with children I give them my greatest respect and in return, I expect the same treatment. Finally, and children would say most importantly, in my childcare approach I emphasize fun and enjoyment. I feel that children benefit from a childcare provider that understands and appreciates the value of having pure, unadulterated, child-like fun. As an experienced childcare provider, I believe that I am able to meet the needs of parents and children so that all important aspects of childcare are properly addressed.
My experience as a professional childcare provider has aided me in becoming the young woman I am today and influences me as I take the next steps towards a career caring for and advocating for children. I hold a Master's in Social Work with a focus on children, youth, and families. My life goal is to use my education and experience to promote the healthy emotional and psychosocial development of children.
