I am a graduate level student, and will graduate with my Master in Social Work specializing in mental health in June 2012.

Over the past year, I have completed a placement at Central Clinic as an outpatient psychotherapist. My tasks included diagnosing and assessing clients, as well as providing ongoing therapy to assist in managing symptoms. I have served clients who struggle with bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, major depression, ADHD, and anxiety disorders.

At age 12, I provided regular babysitting for an 8-year-old with severe mental and physical disabilities. She was nonverbal and wheelchair bound, but she was a very special little girl, and I learned a lot about the value of companionship.

Over the past few years, I have had the opportunity to assist a young woman with cerebral palsy. Physically, she needs a wheelchair, but mentally she outshines us all! She recently graduated college with a double major and a minor, and is now in graduate school. As an academic assistant, I helped her with typing, organizing, research, and correspondence. I also assisted her with personal care such as food prep, bathing, and dressing.
