I worked as a special education TA my junior and senior years in high school as well as a TA for an inclusive preschool in Anchorage. I have worked with toddlers both with and without psychiatric diagnosis. I have also volunteered with therapy riding, the Special Olympics, and various schools throughout my education. I love working with people with special needs because they provide genuine emotions that fill a person in their entirety. I cannot bring myself to judge a person according to his or her diagnosis, a person is a person, not a label. I am currently on maternity leave with my son and am hoping to find a position where I will be able to bring my son with me.
