Hi,

Caring for children with special needs presents not only a challenge, but an opportunity to expand our own horizons and appreciation of life and all its little triumphs and joys. In college I worked as a lifeguard and swim instructor for a community center that catered to special needs children during weekday afternoons. Being able to help, to the best of my ability, to teach, and to make them smile was incredibly rewarding. Since then I have earned BS degrees in psychology and zoology, and continued on to receive a Master of Science degree as well. Child psychology, special needs, and language development were all parts of my schooling. Today I am a biologist specializing in natural resources and am looking for a part-time care job on the side. I would like to start a family of my own soon and have a true passion for child care, especially when it presents a challenge and learning opportunity. I consider myself extremely observant and quite attuned to the emotional states and needs of individuals. I have found that all people, children, and special needs alike have a simple need to feel love, acceptance, and to learn.
