I am a special needs therapist that enjoys the satisfaction and gratification of watching a child progress up the developmental ladder - learn to communicate, to engage in joyful interactions and relate to his or her family and peers. I have worked for 12 years in the field of education. I have worked with a population that ranges from children with mild social challenges to children with autism. I help the child to learn to regulate (remain calm even under stress), focus, engage, develop play themes, express emotions, deal with limits and coordinate steps in order to carry out a plan (help with executive functioning.) This is all done in relationship based way with a lot of pleasure, fun and enjoyment. I also help the child to develop and maintain friendships.
