When I was 10 years old, my youngest sister was born with Down syndrome. After my initial concern and confusion about what this meant had passed, I realized that she was just a little girl who'd become increasingly more special to me as time passed. After having such a close bond with her, I began working in various special education classrooms, and ultimately went to school and got my Special Education Teaching Credential. I absolutely love working with this population of incredible people who've never failed to leave me feeling incredibly blessed. Each day working in a class or in the community with individuals who have special needs reminds me of being with my sister, and that makes those days simply wonderful.
