My educational background includes a bachelor's in education with a special ed endorsement and 20 years of teaching in the field of special ed in Seattle. I have also cared for several special needs and/or medically fragile children in my home, as a licensed child care provider, for the past 10 years. I also work with a special needs teen on a weekly basis. I have three older children; a 19-year-old US marine, a 13-year-old (with special needs) and an 11-year-old. My husband teaches children with special needs, often with autistic qualities, and intense behavioral needs. We have been married 23 years. We also have three large dogs to add to our fun, sometimes chaotic life. With the experiences and education I have and continuing education, I keep abreast of the latest brain research, studies and philosophies of parenting, child development, social behavioral stages, etc. Language development is an area of expertise from an educational standpoint. I love teaching. I love people. I love children. I was in nursing school for sometime prior to changing my major to special education. The nursing background has been extremely beneficial in understanding the needs of many with medical issues. I am 50 years old. Greek orthodox (in case religion is important for you to know). I love life. I would not be able to imagine my life if it wasn't completely surrounded and full of family, friends and ... Just ... People everywhere. If you are interested, please read my child care profile as well and feel free to contact me at any time. Good luck on your search. Diane
