I have 3 months professional experience working in an assistant living facility. I work primarily with seniors who suffer from Alzheimer's and Dementia. Three months may seem like such a short time but at the facility where I'm employed, I work the night shift caring for 17 residents by myself. Yes, the resident to caregiver ratio is that bad. I also have 5 years of experience caring for my Grandmother who suffered form Dementia and Diabetes and 2 1/2 years caring for my premature son, who has developmental delays, feeding aversion (he currently uses a Nasal Gastric feeding tube) and a history of Oxygen.

I love my work but I no longer feel comfortable working alone with 17 high risk seniors. I do not feel that it is safe for them or myself. I would not have any problem being a live-in caregiver, as I'm used to working the night-shift, and because of how understaffed Sunrise is, I'm comfortable working long hours. I do have references from co-workers who have given me permission to give their numbers.
