While in high school I volunteered at a school that specializes in children who have special needs. I volunteered there for nine months and spent that time working with a group of children between one and three. I worked with the children on fine and gross motor skills, assisted when needed, in helping with their physical therapy, and attended to other various needs of the children.
I have had one year of experience working as a caregiver in a group home for teenagers and young adults with mental and physical disabilities. While there I cared for each individual needs, including cooking regular meals, administering medication implementing personal plans and providing creative activities for them.
I am the oldest of five children. I have had many years of watching and caring for them while they were between the ages of one to 15. I also have baby-sat two young boys, whose ages were 3 and 9. I also have experience in watching infants under the age of 1. The services I provided were cooking dinner, helping with homework as needed, providing a safe and enjoyable atmosphere, while leaving the home clean for their parents.
