My first paycheck job was as a teacher's assistant at a daycare. I had my own daughter in 1989 and in 1991 returned to daycare work. I held a position as Lead Teach for a classroom - ages 3-4 years - for 3 years at a private school, which is now closed. During that time I worked with several children with Special Needs -- specifically ADD and Autism. Through my volunteer work with Girl Scouts, I met and worked with a girl with several challenges including mobility and vision issues. I still keep in contact with her through FB. I am creative, but organized enough to stay on schedule; I am kind and sympathetic, but enforce house rules; I am willing to be spontaneous, but understand children need structure. I come with an activity box, which contains age appropriate books, games, and crafts.
