I am 24 years-old and have 3 children of my own, a 6-year-old son in 1st grade, a 3-year-old little girl and a 2-month-old baby boy. I grew up helping take care of my cousin with full-blown autism who is now 16. I worked for an Autism treatment center in River Oaks, Texas as the Communications Teacher. My children ranged from ages 4-11 with different communication issues some who had scripting issues, some that only used sign language, and some that did not speak at all. I have dealt with older children who had potty training issues, feeding, changing etc. We were also very big on using ABA Therapy as well as positive reinforcement. I also worked independently as a respite care provider for a 6-year-old little boy with Asperger's who was enrolled in GATC. I worked with him one on one until he was finally able to be put in a classroom setting at a normal elementary school in the first grade with no transitional issues. I absolutely love special needs children. They are truly amazing and fascinate me. I'm currently trying to get enrolled into college to get my Bachelor's, then my Master's in Early Childhood Development to be an ABA Therapist.
