I grew up with a brother who was severely handicapped. He is now 34 and is still like a newborn child. I grew up helping take care of him and as soon as I graduated I was hired through a company to be his in home caregiver. I bathed, fed, gave his medication and changed him. He could not talk or walk so I had to do therapy with him and move him so he would not be stiff or get sore. I would read to him and watch movies with him to entertain him. I worked for the company for 8 years and had the chance to also work with the elderly and other people with different disabilities. I worked with people with cerebral palsy, autism, hemophilia and Down syndrome. Growing up with a sibling like this I was around many other children and adults with the same disabilities and I have had a passion to help them ever since I was a little girl. I know many people who are intimidated by those with disabilities, but I AM NOT! I am looking to work for someone who is in need of the assistance of a caregiver whether it be someone with a disability or the elderly. If you have any questions please don't hesitate to contact me!
