I worked with rock house in Stephenville TX for just under a year. I was in a home with 13 clients whose disabilities range from Cerebral palsy- down syndrome. Two were wheel chair bound and needed full hands on care eating, changing clothes/diaper and day to day tasks. The mission was to teach the daily skills required to one day live on their own. Cooking, cleaning, hygiene, appropriate behavior, how to handle money, how to deal with anger/anxiety. It was a job where I felt my clients taught me far more about life and true happiness than I was able to teach them. I quit due to my father needing a high risk surgery and a promotion in my second job that would allow equal pay, with just working one job 40 hours a week. I have two special needs cousins whom I have helped with from time to time. I am comfortable with and around all ages and disabilities be it something simple where they are independent to needing full care and attention.

Aside from Rick house, I have also I cared for my grandfather who passed away due to pancreatic cancer. He was diabetic so I learned to check blood and how to provide insulin shots, I have a deaf stepson and am learning to sign.
