I've worked at a day program for mostly developmentally disabled young adults who ranged in disability from being unable to speak, walk, feed and toilet themselves to higher functioning people that we taught basic living skills, money handling, hygiene and recreational skills. I have also been an unpaid companion to several blind adults, for whom I read aloud and assisted with transportation. Later, I worked as a social worker/case manager for people with chronic mental illnesses. I provided help accessing resources, talking problems through, supporting their families and more. I get a lot of satisfaction out of helping people. I have current certification in First Aid and CPR (Adult, Infant, Child).
