I have a young, male cousin that suffers from Fragile X Syndrome and am familiar with the hardships a severe disability can cause on an otherwise functioning family. I understand the need for as many supports as possible so that the child is able to advance toward full potential. I have acted as a direct-care provider for the Shiloh Group Home and Creative Care Providers. I worked with children and adults with special needs through the Medicaid Waiver Program. I also co-educated an ADAPT class with elementary-aged children in the autism spectrum. Later in my career, I worked for the Sheriff's Office in both a law enforcement and social work capacity, investigating child abuse and referring families with special needs to appropriate service providers.
