Caitlin Y. - Seattle Special Needs Caregiver

Profile of Caitlin Y.

Part-Time, 9 Years of Experience

My passion for working with youth with disabilities started nine years ago when I began working with the Seattle Parks Department summer camp for children with disabilities. This experience led me to major in special education at Western Washington University. While finishing my education degree, I worked as a respite care provider for a girl with autism. Once graduating, I accepted a job teaching special education for high school students with moderate and severe disabilities. I taught students with multiple physical and developmental disabilities, autism, Down syndrome and seizure disorders. I taught for four years and then decided to start graduate school in nursing. I completed my bachelors degree in nursing at the University of Washington. I am now working part-time with a local school district as an RN working with students with complex medical needs. I am passionate about assisting youth with moderate and severe disabilities and their families lead lives with full and active participation in the community.
