Andrea H. - Seattle Special Needs Caregiver

Profile of Andrea H.

Part-Time, 10 + Years of Experience

Experience and Professionalism:
I have been a parent of four, and am grandmother of five. Caring for children has been my choice of profession since February, 1980. I am dedicated to promoting growth and development of the whole child: physically, intellectually, emotionally and spiritually. I believe in God as revealed to us in the Bible. I received Early Childhood Development Education through Seattle Day Nursery Association, Childcare Resources and Bellevue Community College. I currently am working with King County and Seattle Libraries to better understand and promote early literacy.

Caring:
Teaching and caring for children is my choice of profession. I enjoy children--playing with them, talking with them, meeting their physical needs, providing the nurture and love they need. My joy is in watching each child grow and develop in positive ways and meeting his potential. My guidance and discipline is preventative, not punishing. A child may be removed from the play for a cooling off period for up to five minutes but he is not shamed or isolated from sight. Courtesy and respect for others and for property are values which I believe in and teach to the children.
Related Hobbies and Interests
I enjoy the outdoors, biking, hiking, camping, swimming, gardening, reading, sewing, crochet, Pilates, preparing healthy nutritious foods.
