My own son has ADHD and multiple learning disabilities. Over many years of working with him and both private and public school systems, I successfully moved him, over time, from contained special education classrooms and multiple tutors to mainstream classes. He graduated from high school with an advanced diploma. He is now a junior at a four-year university and maintains a 3.2 and above GPA. Because of my experience, I was asked to tutor a gifted-talented seventh grade student with ADHD and Tourette's syndrome three to five times a week. According to his parents, he has never done as well in school before or since. I am passionate about people who "learn differently." It requires imagination and some knowledge of discipline since many of these children have difficulty staying on task. I also understand the frustration parents can experience when they have a child who needs more time or help than they can give. I can be a big help and a strong support to both parent and child.
