Myishen H. - San Jose Special Needs Caregiver

Profile of Myishen H.

Full-Time, 3 Years of Experience

I had spent the past three years caring for twins with autism, which has been such an amazing experience. I also worked at Pacific Autism Center for Education's preschool which is called Sunny Days Preschool. We had a mixture of autistic spectrum children, and typically developing children. I was assigned to specific children and for months would work with them on social skills, play, self care, and self regulation. My boss there, who is the preschool program director, is named Gina. She and I are on great terms, I have her listed as a reference on my resume. Then, I worked for Special Home Needs. What I did there is go out to the homes of special needs children and interact with them while their parents are gone or busy. When I had first started that job, a parent had already told me that she would be my reference if I wanted to apply to another child care job because I was great with kids. It was very nice to hear, because it meant that she liked the work I was doing with her son.

My aunt got me into the child care/special needs business, and I have wanted to keep doing it ever since. I feel very comfortable and passionate about working with children. Also, I sense that it is something that maybe I was meant to do. I take my jobs very seriously.
Related Hobbies and Interests
I like to paint, sing, and write. This may be a bit corny, but I really like story time with kids. My old co-workers said that I have a knack for reading children stories because I get pretty goofy with the characters.
