I babysat for a family with a 2-year-old girl and a 5-year-old boy with autism. Rather than using previous experience in homework-aid and tutoring to motivate me to work with this child's special needs, his needs motivated me to pursue tutoring professionally with other disabled youth. I worked as a English tutor for a student with dyslexia and other special needs through the Disability center at SFSU for about a year and am still on call. I also babysat for a child with ADHD for two years. I helped care for, but was not paid, a friend's little brother who had Asperger's and was bipolar until his family moved to put him in a special program.
