Katie J. - San Diego Special Needs Caregiver

Profile of Katie J.

Part-Time, 8 Years of Experience

I have been working with children with special needs for eight years. My main focus and education as well as work experience is with children with autism ages 2-13. I have also worked with children and adults with Down syndrome. I am well versed in behavior modification and dealing with difficult behaviors, as well as different teaching methods including those used in Applied Behavior Analysis as well as Greenspan's Floortime methods. I have completed my bachelor's degree in speech pathology and am currently enrolled in graduate school for my master's degree at San Diego State University, also for speech pathology. What I love most about working with the special needs population is the opportunity to make a lasting impact on the children and families I work with. I make a commitment not only to my client, but to the family as a whole to provide the best service possible and make a positive difference in their lives.
Related Hobbies and Interests
I am the special needs director at a gymnastics center in my area. While at the gym I developed a special needs program providing children with special needs the opportunity to participate in gymnastics.
