Laura A. - Salt Lake City Special Needs Caregiver

Profile of Laura A.

Part-Time, 4 Years of Experience

I worked at the division of vocational rehabilitation (DVR) for Washington State for three years as a vocational rehabilitation counselor. I worked with adults with a wide range of disabilities, with onset from birth to work-related injuries. I went to DVR for services myself after experiencing a life-changing disability, and was hired as a counselor. I am comfortable on both sides of the desk and really understand issues related to disabilities, especially in terms of adjustment. I can assist with case management, transportation to appointments, social outings, spending time with the individual, and finding helpful resources.
Related Hobbies and Interests
While in college I lived with an elderly woman and provided social interaction as well as did various errands and light services in exchange for rent. I would be happy to do something along these lines, but am not looking for a live-in situation.
