Mika H. - Phoenix Special Needs Caregiver

Profile of Mika H.

Full-Time, 6 Years of Experience

I am a 30-year-old mother of two that would like to watch one to two more children from my North Phoenix home. I have six plus years of experience working as a special education assistant teacher in a K-2 elementary school. I have worked with several children with autism as well as other diagnoses. I have also recently worked as a preschool teacher in a regular education classroom of (14) 3-year-olds. I have over nine plus years of total childcare experience, both special ed. and regular ed.

A typical week in my home incorporates art projects, play dough, listen to music, baking, reading, puzzles, blocks, independent activities and free play in our playroom or outside. Because of my special ed. background, I am passionate about teaching children of all ability levels to obtain independence by learning self help skills and problem solving skills that they can apply to daily life. For example, I like to teach kids how to be independent with their clothing, brushing teeth, hand washing, food packaging, etc. I believe this promotes confidence! I also like to teach kids how to problem solve in social situations by teaching them how to use appropriate words when trying to work out issues with their peers, such as sharing and turn-taking.

I am constantly striving to create a preschool experience for my 3-year-old son and my 3-month-old daughter and I would love to welcome another child into our loving, nurturing home.

I am available for odd hours and overnights as well. Please let me know what your needs are and hopefully we can mutually help each other!

Thank you.
Mika
