Jennifer S. - Minneapolis Special Needs Caregiver

Profile of Jennifer S.

Full-Time, 1 Year of Experience

I am only putting one year paid experience as the little girl that I used to nanny for was diagnosed with a severe peanut allergy. I never had to use the epi-pen on her, but was trained in the event it was necessary. I have watched a then 9-year-old who had autism and cerebral palsy. I wasn't paid as this was the younger brother of a friend. One of my twin goddaughters/cousins was diagnosed with type one diabetes in September of 2007 at the age of 5. I am fully comfortable with counting carbs, checking blood sugars, and administering insulin. I know the signs of blood sugar being too high or too low, as well as the dangers of each and how important it is to keep type one in the proper blood sugar range. She does not have a pump, so I am not familiar with that, however, I am willing to learn.
Related Hobbies and Interests
I also am Team Lead for Team Kayla Minnesota Chapter which is directly related to The Kayla Weber Believe Foundation, a foundation built in memory of Kayla Weber, a 15-month-old that lost her battle to Stage 4 Neuroblastoma after a year long fight.
