Hannelore S. - Miami Special Needs Caregiver

Profile of Hannelore S.

Part-Time, 2 Years of Experience

My mother is a pediatric physical therapist. The work she does inspired me to volunteer at several special needs events and at her work. The company she works for, Creative Children Therapy, runs a summer camp, creative adventures camp, for special needs children. I worked at these camps for two years. I worked with children who had global developmental delays, Angelman's syndrome, autism, Down syndrome, and cerebral palsy. I learned some sign language to better communicate with the child who had GDD. I occasionally baby-sit for families of children with special needs. One family has four children that all have special needs. Because of everything I learned at the summer camp, I was able to come up with some engaging activities, which they loved, and I was able to easily handle all four children at the same time. Also, my brother has cerebral palsy (CP), so I have been through that personal experience also.
