We are looking AHEAD for a very committed, experienced, kind-hearted Personal Care Attendant for our adult son. He is now 18. He will be 19-20 when we will be living in the Ponchatoula/Hammond area. We are planning our move for July 2014. We know it is quite a long time from now, but as his parents and guardians we have the difficult job of finding the perfect match for him in PCA care. This is not an easy task to accomplish when we are now living over 1,500 miles away from our future home in Louisiana. Basically, this will be about a year and a half interviewing process and we won't be able to officially hire anyone until we are established in LA and have done a one to one personal interview, background check, and observe a meeting with our son to decide if it is a good match prior to any job offers. Part time /Full time possibilities. Care for our son consists of 24/7 one on one care. Monitoring of behaviors with positive reinforcements. Community support in job setting etc.,overview of activities and social outings, help with grocery shopping, meal prep, laundry, upkeep of his apt/house, personal hygiene assist when needed. Live-in possibilities for the right candidate. Promoting his personal growth and independence. Provide a safe, nurturing environment at all times. Being able to listen to his ideas and concerns and treating him with respect and hearing his voice. He is an amazingly friendly young man. With a kind heart, a loving soul and a sweet smile that is pure sunshine. He is our miracle. He enjoys to watch Home and Garden shows. He loves appliances and their brand names. He loves photos. He loves to ask questions and he has a gift of memory. He is very social and he loves having family/friend get-togethers. He LOVES Holidays!! And decorating for them!! He has a wonderful sense of humor and finds happiness in the simple things in life. We are looking to add only positive influences and experiences into his life when we move down to LA. He is very excited for the change also. He is in high school Life Skills program and he is doing AWESOME! He has several jobs he does now. Laundry, dishes, stocking shelves, shredding, recycling etc. He loves being productive and helping out. So, by the time we are permanently residing in the Hammond area, he should be very much able to have a job (with assist). His PCA will also be responsible for precise Medication delegation during care hrs. This is a brief overview of future job description.
