Caregiver For 2-Year-Old Boy

Our family is interviewing for a caregiver/personal attendant to help assist our 2-year-old son with daily living activities, doctor's appointments, therapy appointments, and family outings. He was born with hydrocephalus (a brain injury), but has progressed way beyond the doctor's original prognosis. His main challenges are fine and gross motor tasks, however, his language skills are right on schedule. Every life experience, even regular toddler play, is a learning experience for him. He is eager to please, is cognitively motivated, and genuinely a happy boy. Typical job duties would include helping him learn to dress, practicing skills learned in therapies, feedings, playtime, help using his walker, assistance with play dates and outings, and extremely light housework related to his care. Applicants must have their own reliable transportation with a good driving record, pass a background check conducted by the Medicaid waiver, be a non-smoker, and be CPR certified. Previous child care experience is necessary and any experience with special needs children is beneficial. We are looking for someone who is loving, compassionate, energetic, and who truly wants to make a difference in a child's life. It really is the ultimate reward to see him master a skill for the first time. The hours are negotiable, as well as the start date. I look forward to talking to you further about the position.
