While still in school, I worked at the Handicapped Development Center in Davenport, IA and found that I love working with individuals with special needs even more than I love music! At HDC I worked primarily with adults in a residential situation where I helped them with personal care, their PT/OT and Speech Therapy programs, as well as daily activities at home and in the community. After graduating I began working at an elementary school with third, fourth, and fifth graders with behavior disorders and various disabilities. I was recently hired to do summer respite work with two students from the school I work at who both have Fragile X syndrome.
